The Inspirational Choir was organized by the late Bro. Raymond McCree under Dr. Arthur D. Griffin, pastor on May 15, 1986. In 2001 Brother Raymond McCree our organizer and director was called home to be with the Lord. Many of the original choir members are still very active in the Inspirational Choir today, Sis. Ella Young-Dunn and Sis. Delores Benton. Bro. Thomas Burnett joined shortly thereafter and remains our longest active Male choir member. We also wish to acknowledge our faithful members who due to illness cannot stand with us but are with us in every other since Sis. Dorothy Mays, Sister Marilyn Payne, Sister Pearletta Williams and Mother Glendora Hall.
The late Bro. Raymond Mc Cree, Bro John McCullough, Bro Kevin Thompkins, Rev. Donald R. Smith, Dea Walter Washington and the list would be incomplete without adding Arthur Griffin, Jr. who has always served as back-up at a momemt’s notice.
We are also proud to add to the distinction of choir members doing a mighty work for Christ those members of the Inspirational Choir who have accepted the calling as Deacons of First Baptist Congregational Church. Deacon Gunard Polite, Deacon Thomas Burnett, Deacon Walter Washington, Deacon Wendell Rice and Deacon Thomas Dorsey.
The Inspirational Choir remains committed to the goal of our organizers which is to keep alive the old the favorite and the traditional songs of inspiration.
