Quarterly Parenting Memory Verse for October, and November, December 2010
This activity is designed to develop a biblical understanding parenting. Read and memorize the scripture below and then read through steps 1 through 3.
Our quarterly memory verse is Psalm 24:1 - 2
“The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2) for he founded it upon the seas and established it upon the waters.“
The bible clearly tells us the “all” who live in the earth belong to God. This means that children do not belong to parents. Children belong to God.
Step 1
Questions for reflection: What is your view of your children? Do they belong to God or do they belong to you? Is your view biblical?
Step 2
Spiritual Insight: Parents are stewards/caregivers of children not owners.
Step 3
Pray - Ask God to give you a deep understanding and appreciation for His ownership of the children in your family and to expose and remove any attitude that might hinder this request.

Parenting Tip
Did you know that there is a difference between discipline and correction?
Discipline is appropriate when a rule or instruction has not been obeyed.
Correction is appropriate when a child does something wrong because he/she does not know the right thing to do.
Parents must know when to discipline and when to correct.
